International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. Inspired by the theme Press for Progress, Amazonians celebrated International Women's Day in over 50 locations on six continents in 2018.

Across Europe, we organized a bunch of activities to promote diversity awareness and reach Amazonians beyond the usual groups. Various events were held throughout ‘The Diversity Awareness Month’ under #PressforProgress.

In the UK, the employee affinity group Women@ organized a range of activities focused on gender diversity across the different sites in London, Edinburgh and Cambridge, to celebrate women’s achievements and challenging stereotypes and bias to #PressforProgress in 2018. In London, employees met from Danielle Newham, author of Female Innovators at Work: Women on Top of Tech. She hosted a morning discussion to talk about what she found when interviewing over 300 female founders and innovators about their experiences and successes.

In the Cambridge development center, panelists at different stages of their career gave advice to the Cambridge employees on launching their career at Amazon, balancing work/life at the mid-career stage and running large organizations. In Edinburgh, the team ran a workshop for employees focused on how to nurture diversity, inclusion and belonging to their teams.
