Forbes ranked Amazon #2 on its newly released World’s Best Employers 2020 list.

To compile this year’s list, Forbes surveyed 160,000 employees from 750 companies around the world and asked them to rate their willingness to recommend their employers to friends and family.

Participants also had to rate their satisfaction with their employers’ COVID-19 response, economic footprint, talent development, gender equality, social responsibility, and other factors. Forbes used feedback from Amazon employees working both across our logistics network and corporate offices.

“Amazon employees around the world have been doing important and meaningful work to make sure people can get what they need during this global pandemic – and we’re so grateful for their dedication to customers,” said Beth Galetti, Amazon Senior Vice President of Human Resources.

We provide some of the most advanced workplaces of their kind in the world, with industry-leading pay, processes and systems to ensure the well-being and safety of all employees. We’ve also launched numerous local initiatives to continue supporting our employees during the pandemic.

For example, through the implementation of additional safety measures, employee assistance programs, home office options for corporate employees, and a $25 million global relief fund to support independent logistics partners and their employees facing financial hardship during this crisis.

Today, Amazon employs more than 875,000 people around the world and, since the start of the pandemic, has hired more than 175,000 new employees--offering new job opportunities to people affected by the economic impact of the pandemic. Amazon is spending billions of dollars on COVID-19 related safety measures, including distributing more than 100 million face masks to employees and making over 150 process updates to keep employees safe like implementing temperature checks at sites around the world and mandating enhanced cleaning procedures at all Amazon sites, among others.
